Generative Composition & Music Editing

So much more than just a song and dance

Over much of the past decade, we have worked with – and continue to work for – businesses involved in music editing, staged performance, and automated unique generative composition.

The underlying technologies are heavily processor centric, with the end results achieving audience interaction for interactive concert wristbands used by ColdPlay® and other international bands, generative music applied to and aligned with interactive gaming activities and advertising composition to a defined briefing narrative.

Our understanding of musical structures, the technical identification of appropriate audio anacruses, and the generation and automatic insertion of appropriate musical textures to achieve musical “good form” is complemented by our understanding of the subtleties and nuances associated with securing patent protection in music technology.

We are routinely required to explain why the results, rather than the processes required to achieve the musical outcome, are not some abstract concept and a statutory exclusion. Our abilities to overcome such examiner perceptions reflect both an innate understanding of and skill set in this field of technology, with this justifying the confidence shown in us by world-leading musical technology companies requiring rapid patent grants in commercially important territories. In short, our work and successes in this difficult field underscore the opinions expressed by renowned musicologists, particularly that some of the core technologies we are protecting are at the cutting edge and present an opportunity for research for a team of a dozen people for the next 20 years.’
