Jonathan Atkinson
Jonathan is a leading patent practitioner qualified with a doctorate in chemistry from the University of Oxford and is a Chartered Chemist, Chartered Scientist, Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys and a European Patent Attorney.
Jonathan has extensive experience in the chemical, pharmaceutical, medical devices, life sciences, metallurgical and advanced material fields. He advises on patent portfolio creation and management, patent origination, patent strategy, and due diligence in support of acquisitions and disposals and has advised on a number of $Billion transactions. Jonathan has been instrumental in securing positive outcomes in numerous contentious matters before a variety of tribunals, including European Patent Office oppositions and appeals, UKIPO and UK High Court patent litigations, litigation before a German District Court, and managing multi-forum patent litigation in the UK and simultaneously in Europe.
His focus is on pragmatic, commercially useful advice and outcomes. He has had a wide variety of clients including 2 Nobel Prize winners and previous significant clients of record include: Pfizer, Inc., Pfizer Limited, Shire Pharmaceuticals, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, Sun Pharmaceuticals, Accord/Intas Pharmaceuticals, Life Technologies Corporation, Thermo Fisher Scientific, University of Oxford, University of Manchester and University of Nottingham.
Jonathan also served on the National Council of The Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys for 4 years and on the Business Practice Committee for 10 years.
